Pastures and Gardens

The homestead sits on a centrally elevated site, and is surrounded immediately by gardens which merge into a series of four large ornamental lakes and the pastured paddocks beyond.

About 130 ha (320 acres - approximately half of the property) has been cleared and developed with approximately 40 ha (100 acres) sown to introduced pastures, and a further 8 ha (20 acres) normally planted for crop each year with oats or rye corn.

The property itself is attractive undulating land, with the cleared country maintaining some of the magnificent original trees, principally eucalypts.

The Gardens

The homestead is surrounded by approximately 20 acres of easy-care irrigated gardens with sweeping lawns, established trees and shrubs, and a magnificent sandstone ha-ha wall, with the stone quarried and hewn on the property.

There are some magnificent feature areas including the lavender garden, the vegetable garden and an intense garden area on the south western side, providing privacy and protection to the homestead.

The inground heated pool with pool house and the ‘all weather’ tennis court merge into the garden.

Ornamental Lakes and Paddocks

The property is subdivided into nine major paddocks with numerous ancillary paddocks. Those surrounding the homestead are bounded with attractive timber post and rail fencing, whilst the further grazing paddocks are generally four and five strand barbed wire.

There are three main horse paddocks, one of post and rail, two of timber post and strung with plain wire and netting.

Horse facilities

  • Set of recently completed stables with timber frame construction. Each stable includes loose box, open shelter shed and timber post and rail day yards.
  • Dressage arena with post and rail fence and sand base.
  • Round yard with sand base.


A Continuous Waterway

The water improvements are magnificent – there are 14 dams throughout the property including one large Turkey Nest storage dam set on one of the high points of the property, and allowing water to gravity feed to the homestead, farm houses, extensive gardens and, where necessary, the livestock paddocks.

There are four major dams or ornamental lakes surrounding the homestead, giving the feeling of a continuous waterway.

Whilst the location of the property calls for independent provision of electricity and phone connections, Wattle Ridge is completely independent and well serviced.

The Guest House

The guest house is situated close to but completely independent of the homestead. It has three bedrooms, generally with views to the south over one of the ornamental lakes, a large lounge room with stone open fireplace, and kitchen with small dining area.

The main bedroom has an ensuite facility with the remaining two bedrooms sharing a second bathroom. A large timber verandah overlooks the lake and the property.
